More Than a Tour: Mayong Through Dedi’s Eyes

点评：Our experience in Mayong Village was truly unforgettable, and Dedi made all the difference.
Dedi was born and raised there, and you can genuinely feel it in every story he tells and every explanation he gives. His enthusiasm, his deep connection to the land, and especially his respect and affection for the people working in the fields came through naturally throughout the entire experience.
He explained everything in very clear and accessible English, making it easy to understand even for those of us who are not fluent. He adapted the pace to us, was always attentive, and had an incredible ability to listen and understand our needs. What could have simply been a walking tour became a beautiful journey into a rural culture and way of life that feels so distant from our own today.
Through Dedi’s stories and the people we met, we truly understood the value behind something as simple as rice. Seeing how it is grown, harvested, and still processed by hand completely changed our perspective.
And then came the simple Balinese meal at the end of the experience. It was absolutely wonderful. At one point, after slowly tasting the rice, I said: “I just realized that maybe I’ve never really eaten rice before in my life.”
The flavour was so authentic, so genuine and so deeply connected to everything we had experienced that day.
