点评:We were given a very warm welcome at the Wildlife SOS Elephant Conservation and Care Centre, and the staff were intrigued to know that we became aware of the centre through the UK TV programme Race Across the World!
We were given a unique insight into the work that they do to to rescue and care for these wonderful creatures. We spent about 90 minutes walking around, observing from a distance, and chatting to the staff who were more than happy to answer our questions. Initially, we thought that we would be feeding and stroking the elephants, but we now understand that in order to be touched (and ridden) elephants have to have their spirit broken... usually by means of violent coercion. and torture. A fact of which, I bet, many people who happily jump up to ride them are not aware.
The gift shop was very well stocked, and we even decided to adopt an elephant for a year in order for this amazing facility to continue its crucial work.
