Narrowboat Escapes的点评
点评：Ad and I had a few narrowboat holidays 20+ years ago, but after buying our traditional narrowboat with a Gardner 2LW in February, we were a little overwhelmed by how different our boat was as to what we experienced all those years ago on a hire boats.
We booked Martin’s one day course and we were so pleased we did. Our day started off with the safe handling of the boat
on the canal, the etiquette shown to our fellow boaters, our safety and illustrations of how a narrowboat pivots.
Next, Marin explained how our engine operates, checking the engine was functioning well to commence our day and what an informative, educational and great day it was.
We set off to a thoroughly enjoyable day, although I have to admit, I was more nervous than my husband and it showed, but I got the confidence to take control of our boat. Martin is a very patient and confident instructor who praises where praises are due, which I was thankful for.
After many hours of cruising, learning so much, we arrived back at Braunston Marina. Martin took us through the final checks on the engine after cruising, to ensure our boat was safely moored in place.
We can’t wait to experience our next course with Martin. Locks, tunnels and grounding. We have our dog, Boris who is coping well with our semi-life aboard, but we are concerned how he will react to locks and the darkness of tunnels so another learning curve for us all; we know after our next day with Martin, we will all be confident in our next chapter.
