点评:A truly awe inspiring visit. Walking into a medieval stronghold with so many stories. Built in the late 1500s as a possible refuge for Mary Queen of Scots gilbert balfour is a colourful character. As the master of the Queen of Scots household he was privy to many royal secrets. There are 72 musket holes through which the defending soldiers could fire against attackers. Bullet holes galore to see. And then the ghosts... boki the hound. A loyal dog who tried to stop his master drinking poison. He knocked the cup out of his masters hand and was beaten to death . He howls and patrols the staircase. Then there are rumours of a wife of a noble man thrown from the higher roof for infidelity. I felt very uneasy in the basement near the huge kitchen fireplace. I spoke with a local painter who said he was pushed while painting the staircase. I myself experienced cold spots and a horrible feeling of doom in the bedrooms. Locals have heard music and seen faint lights. Fabulous. An absolute must to visit.
