Excellent overview of John Kennedy's life & political career as he rises to presidency

点评：The John F. Kennedy Library & Museum is an excellent overview of his life & political career as he rises to presidency. The galleries inside the museum are decorated to remind you of the White House's interior, and are laid out in mostly chronological order. Many of the gifts given to him (and wife Jacquline) over his presidency have ended up here to highlight events in both their lives. Note the Museum concentrates on things he did in life; his death is not covered in much depth.
Both his youth, military service, and early political career is covered in about the same level of detail. Like most Presidential Libraries, the display galleries stressed the things that went well during his time in office, and less on the things that didn't go that well (these are not ignored). A nice touch was all the newsreel & television clips that highlight particular events, so you get a good ideas of how his administration was being presented to the public.
There are several short (15 - 20 minutes) films that give an overview of major events in Kennedy's life. Be sure to make time to see these as well. These galleries aren't too cluttered with lots of similar artifacts, so it's easier to walk through the Museum without bing overwhelmed with detail.
A current special exhibit was on "Presidential Pets," which covered all the different pets that sometime got to be as famous as the President. Both adults & children will find this exhibit charming.
Note this Museum is ~1 mile from the nearest subway station, so getting there from the "JFK" MBTA subway stop isn't as easy as the map might show. This is still an excellent way to spend 2-3 hours covering recent American history.
