Providence Bay Beach的点评
点评：Although the beach looks nice in photos and it has been cleaned up in recent years, it's not very pleasant, and becoming less suitable for small kids. The water temperature is about six degrees colder than other parts of Lake Huron like Grand Bend. But the worst part is, because it is a fisherman's paradise, there are fishing lures and hooks hidden in the sand all over the place! The canal that runs under the boardwalk and into lake Huron is the Mindemoya river and it is famous for trout and salmon fishing. My daughter stepped and punctured her foot on a fishing lure hook that was in the sand as she walked through the water. The lure was tangled in some debris, so these hooks are not left there intentionally, but as a result of heavy fishing in the area. There were people fishing off the beach every day. Needless to say, she was terrified of returning into the water for the rest of our stay, and there's not much else to there! I also heard that someone punctured their paddleboard on a hook the same week we were there. The water in the canal is used by smaller kids as it is a bit warmer and calm, but it had visible leeches while we were there. One parent told me that their child had ended up with a weird rash. Not sure if it's related, but public health has stopped testing the waters for bacteria levels in 2025, so even if it's not safe to swim, people won't know this. If you're going there in safety shoes or to fish salmon and watch the sunset, it's beautiful, but if you have kids, go elsewhere!
