点评:A Wonderful Walk in the Park! Well, it wasn't Saturday, but it was in the park and it felt like the 4th of July, as the song lyrics go from Chicago's hit "Saturday in the Park." Washington Park really made me feel like singing. What a joyful place. I would suggest finding street parking near any free shuttle stop - you don't necessarily need to park near the rose garden. Parking fees are nominal. Otherwise, there are no fees. The park gets crowded; when we were there, not only locals and tourists enjoyed the place, but several school buses had unloaded kids on field trips, and they swarmed the rose garden and playground. So, once you park, go to the International Rose Test Garden first, I would say, and do your photography and wandering around in the early morning light. Then, take the shuttle to the botanical gardens area and hike the shaded trails as the day grows warmer. We did not go to the Japanese Garden nor the zoo. We probably spent an hour in the rose garden and over an hour walking the trails afterwards. We also puttered around in a gift shop and purchased a few things. I am very glad we went here.
