Incredibly informative fossil adventure!
Charleston Fossil Adventures的点评
点评：I am a Charleston native and have been on fossil/sharks tooth hunting excursions with several local vendors. I have to say this was the most informative of them all. My sister and I did the Two Island Adventure. Ashby Gale is the most knowledgeable person I have ever met when it comes to the geologic history and fossil identification. The book he co-authored with his parents (A Beachcomber's Guide to Fossils) is my Bible for fossil identification. This is a great excursion for people who want to learn about the geologic history of the area and what to look for when hunting. He has display cases before the hunt so you can know what to look for. And he stays with the group during the hunt constantly identifying what you are finding. He also does "pick a number" contests when he finds something so someone can get what he finds. The only negative for me was the shorter time to hunt fossils (4 hour tour but only about 2.5 hours of hunting). At the beginning was the education portion and the end was identification of all finds for each passenger. The plus also was one small group on secluded islands so you were not competing on the popular search sites. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and very interactive.
