点评：A Very Nicely Curated Rose Garden in Balboa Park! On a Saturday morning, after breakfast, we drove to Balboa Park on our San Diego trip in March, 2026 - - a trip which we took to see the Savannah Bananas at Petco Park. We had the day to spend touring San Diego. Our morning stop was Balboa Park, to see the Carousel and the Rose Garden. There are multiple parking lots available throughout the park area, and a very large parking lot for the zoo, which we did not have time to visit. We walked through a succulent garden on the way to the rose garden, which was a nice ten-minute detour. This rose garden doesn't compare to the size and majesty of the International Test Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon, for example, but it is very nicely maintained, with excellent signage, and a nice variety of roses with terrific names and colors, such as Rainbow Sorbet, Marc Chagall, Hot Cocoa, and Maurice Utrillo. These are the ones I chose to photograph. The garden has a fountain with mosaic tiles which makes for a nice photo spot. I reckon you could walk through and see and smell the roses in half an hour. After we went here, we wandered over to the carousel building to look at it, but it wasn't yet open for the day, so we peered in to see what we could. I am very glad we went here. This is a beautiful place to get some fresh air and sunshine - it's all paved and wheelchair accessible.
