点评:The weather was bitter cold on the day I went, so I didn't stay as long as I would have liked - only 2.5 hours. If the weather was better I think I would have stayed another 2 hours. It was really interesting. I saw the movie, which is a good orientation to the site. Being the day after Christmas, there weren't many interpreters or events happening, with attendance being low. But I did interact with an interpreter in the church, who was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable, and I learned so much from him. The archeology museum on the grounds is also great. The signage is good, the exhibits are very interesting, even for a lay person, and the best part for me was the indigenous culture interpreter who was in one of the galleries. He was so enthusiastic. He did all sorts of demonstrations involving how to flake flint, how to make/sharpen stone tools, and how to cut leather. I learned a lot about the daily lives of the local tribe during that time period. After I left the main site, I walked down to Jamestown Settlement, and on my way over, I stopped in at the Glasshouse, which is also part of Historic Jamestowne. I loved that. Interpreters were dressed in period clothing and blowing glass vases in the way it was done historically. They explained what they were doing as they worked. It was almost mesmerizing to watch the process. Their work is available for sale there as well if that's something you're interested in. Historic Jamestowne is well worth the visit, and I think it's the perfect place to start before going over to Jamestown Settlement.
