Alcatraz Is a Must, Just Book Early!

点评：I’m sure this has been said by many, but it’s true: book your Alcatraz tour as early as possible to get the best selection of day, night, or VIP/Behind the Scenes tours.
Our ferry ride took about 15 minutes, and everyone in our group was lined up and ready to board about 20 minutes before our scheduled departure. The wind on the bay is chilly, so definitely dress in layers.
We really enjoyed the audio tour and can see why it has won awards. The facility has been preserved in incredible detail, and the tour gives you a very good sense of what life was like for the people incarcerated there. It was easily one of the highlights of the visit.
The gift shop also has some unique Alcatraz souvenirs, although you can probably find less expensive versions of some items in Chinatown.
We booked the last day tour at 3:50 p.m. on a Wednesday afternoon, which worked out really well for us. Overall, Alcatraz is absolutely worth visiting, and I’d recommend booking directly and booking early so you have your choice of tour and time.
