点评：Alcatraz Island is an incredibly well run and must-see experience for any visit to San Francisco. From the moment you arrive, everything feels very well organised and easy to navigate.
The audio guide is excellent and does a fantastic job of moving everyone through the main prison areas efficiently while still bringing the history and atmosphere to life. It really helps you imagine what life was like on the island during its most famous years.
Beyond the prison itself, there is also plenty of nature and wildlife around the island to enjoy, which was a pleasant surprise. If you are incredibly lucky, you may even spot the last surviving Alcatraz prisoner in the bookshop doing book signings, which makes the visit even more memorable.
Definitely well worth a visit. One useful tip is that if you have tickets for a later ferry, they may let you board an earlier one if your group is small and it is not too busy.
If you visiting via a cruise ship then it’s very easy to visit yourself as the Alcatraz ferry is a 10 minute walk from the cruise terminal.
