**Stay: March 4–9, 2026**
We enjoyed our trip to Whitefish, even though only about four inches of snow fell during our stay. The 6:45 a.m. Snow & Trail Report was accurate and very helpful for planning, and grooming matched the online updates.
The only crowded spot was the top of Chair 7, where Russell Street funnels into several runs—several near misses there—but once past that area, the mountain felt wide‑open. We spent most of our time on the North Side, where the snow was best. Favorites included Whitetail, Ridge Run, North Fork, and Goat Haunt. In Hellroaring Basin we liked 1000 Turns and Short but Sweet, and on the Front Side we enjoyed Inspiration and Moose.
Lift operations were smooth, with orderly loading and only minor delays. Chair 5 was a highlight thanks to its dramatic scenery over rocky cliffs. We also had good service at Stumptown Sports when we needed a ski wax.
For food, Hellroaring Saloon near Chair 2 was our favorite—good atmosphere and great soups. The Summit House has excellent views when the weather cooperates. More trail signs would be helpful, but the large maps at the top of each lift and the availability of paper maps were appreciated.
Overall, we had a great time. Senior lift tickets are a real bargain, and the proximity to Glacier National Park makes Whitefish an especially appealing destination.
