点评:This is a really well-kept park with many amenities. They have several full hook up sites, some tent campsites, showers, laundry facilities, several nice picnic areas, easy access and nice paved roads, and lots of open space. There are 2 ADA accessible cabins as well. (You do have to provide your own linens and bedding) There is a playground for kids, a group picnic area, as well as a group camping area, easy hiking trails, and few trees. They have 21 hiking trails, and even some dog trails. Dogs are welcome, but limited to certain areas of the park. The terrain is easy and rolling hills, but nothing steep and it's mostly open with a beautiful view of the mountains right at the base of Cheyenne Mountain, and Norad is just right there. I would describe the terrain as "meadow". There are some scenic views overlooking the city of Colorado Springs. There is not much shade anywhere, and no large trees to sit beneath as this is mostly shorter trees and scrub brush. Lots of deer and wildlife. We saw a family of deer very close to the road. Winters are mild in Colorado Springs, and you might get a few inches of snow one day, the very next it's in the 50's and sunny with no need for a heavy coat. Summers are very tolerable outdoors as the temps stay in the high 80's to low 90's for the most part, and it's not humid at all, so it's very comfortable in the shade. It does rain every afternoon/evening in the summer during monsoon season, but it's only for a short time and then it moves on, and everything is beautiful again. I did not see a general store or place to purchase toiletries, food, or emergency supplies, but I also did not go into any of the buildings other than the visitor's center at the front entrance. There is shopping and dining minutes away, but you are far enough away to be considered "wilderness", even though it is developed and maintained. There is a nice visitors' center at the entrance. This is open year 'round.
