Walking into the town center brings you to Yanaka Ginza, a charming shopping street lined with local souvenir stands, snack shops, and traditional eateries. The vibe here is completely different from modern commercial hubs like nearby Ueno. We stopped for a quick lunch. The classic Japanese bento style meal was decent and the dining spaces here are characteristically compact and crowded even for Tokyo standard. However, the absolute culinary highlight was trying their famous local Mont Blanc chestnut dessert, it tasted incredibly rich and decadent, almost like eating pure, concentrated chestnut ice cream.
