点评:The 12 Days of Christmas at Chiswick house cost us £35 each for Saturday afternoon tickets. Promising ‘traditional Georgian Christmas’ I expected an element of history, something akin to Christmas at Hampton Court or numerous National Trust venues.
It took us 15 minutes tops to go through the 6 small rooms. The last room you could see for nothing via the gift shop’s window. The displays were pretty at times, although a closer look at the mannequins featured doilies and strings of plastic pearls you could buy off Amazon.
If you want some shots for your Instagram, you might want to give it a go (although I reckon some photos of the beautiful windows at Selfridges or Fortnums for free would be just as good). If you want a worthwhile experience where you get a real feel for a Georgian Christmas, avoid it. Especially as you’ll ruin the rest of your day grumbling to one another about how you feel totally ripped off.
I waited until I received a response to my email from the organisers before writing this review, but since their copy and pasted retort said that ‘at heritage events, opinions are subjective’, I now have no qualms going public about how awful it was.
