A hidden gem; a notable historical place; an unexpected beauty

点评：We decided to visit Firle Place because of its location and although we had know about it for many many years had never visited in person. What a surprise and pleasure it was. The joy commenced with the long pastoral drive through the south downs parkland it is set in watching the sheep dotted throughout the grassy vista, and then the wonder of the house appears. Inside more wonders awaited us.
We waited for the guided tour to begin. The guide (Aaron) was so friendly and informative and we learned so much about the history of the place. We never realised the historical link between Massachusetts and Firle until it was revealed to us. The paintings are just magical; words are not enough to convey our wonders at what we saw.
We also enjoyed some brief refreshments at their tea room before Firle Place closed for the day. You should come.
