点评:Free to visit. You get to see how they have been proving silk for the last 500 year. Everything is done by hand & wooden looms. No modern machines.
The guide said they they have over 200 people working there. A lot of women from the local village who are single mothers who cannot read or write
They team them the skills they need to work there. It can take 6 to 8 months for the basic jobs & upto 6 years to learn the looms. These ladies are very skilled.
They produce silk bolts for market & also make things there for sale. A little pricey but all the money stays local & helps educate the women, whose only source of income is the silk farm.
A very educational visit as they show you the life cycle of the silk worm, how they raise & harvest them. How they use different Mulberry trees for different classes of silk.
They also have other artisan products there. The guys can learn how to carve stone & you can buy great products from their shop.
