点评:Just back from a recent trip to the Rotterdam area of the Netherlands. Visited the Music of RockArt during our trip. It is a fascinating museum full of rock memorabilia with (unsurprisingly) an emphasis on Dutch bands and artists. At the time of my visit, the featured artist was Herman Brood but there was also lots of other interesting stuff to look at relating to other bands such as Golden Earring and Shocking Blue. I understand the “featured artist” exhibits get changed on a regular basis and that the museum only displays about 5% of its exhibits at any one time. The museum has a permanent set up of the original studio equipment for the pirate radio station Veronica, and the studio recording kit from where Shocking Blue recorded their worldwide hit “Venus”. In addition to this, the museum is full of guitars, drums and other instruments. The people working at the museum were very friendly and happy to explain/demonstrate some of the kit as you walk through the museum. The museum also has a shop and records for sale can be found throughout the museum. Although located outside of Rotterdam (it is situated in Hoek van Holland) it is easy to get to – it is about 20 minutes’ walk from the Hoek van Holland Metro station.
