点评:This was an amazing trip. We organised our tour from Waves Hotel in Tulum and the tour picked us up in a mini bus to take us to where we would have a breakfast of delicious Mayan food. We then drove out to the lagoon and travelled by boat along the canals, also having the opportunity to float for a few hundred metres in the crystal-clear canal. Coming out into the lake we saw Manatees which was very exciting. Throughout the trip we saw a freshwater crocodile, tiger heron chicks in a nest, pink flamingos, egrets, storks, ibis, tiger herons, frigates, ospreys and their nests, and lizards at an ancient Mayan temple. We finished the tour with another delicious lunch with a choice of dishes and fresh hibiscus juice. Javier and the driver of the boat were very knowledgeable about the birds and keen to support the fragile ecosystem which is so important today. Javier did a degree in ecotourism. It is well worth the price because this is their livelihood, it went for several hours and not only included the trip but breakfast, lunch and transport. It also supports them in maintaining their local ecosystems. We learnt a lot about the Mayan culture of the area. Fascinating for us as Australians to see the Manatees, a close relative of our Australian Dugong.
