点评:Having already been to the Resistance and Archives Museum (which was fabulous but overwhelming) I had low expectations of Chega! BUT I found it to be one of the most worthwhile things I have done in Dili. It lays out very clearly the sequence of events from the 1970’s till now focusing on the Timorese people and not too much of the behind the scenes action of the international community and governments. You get a deeper understanding of how the Timorese were living their lives. The fact that it is all set in one of the former prisons makes it all the more powerful and poignant. Make sure you see the ‘dark cells’ in the corner of the quadrangle. Very confronting. This is an outdoors museum so take a cold drink and while many rooms are now operational offices, the staff don’t seem to mind if you go in and take a look. In fact several staff members came up to me and gave a great insight into various documents. English widely spoken.
