GPO Museum的点评
点评：I visited the GPO Museum on Thursday 5 February 2026 at 10:00am, and it was a genuinely excellent experience from start to finish.
From the moment I arrived, the reception staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which immediately set a positive tone for the visit. I opted for the audio guide, which was only an additional €2, and it was absolutely worth it clear, informative, and very easy to follow as I moved through the exhibition.
The museum offers a fascinating insight into the history of Ireland, particularly the events surrounding the 1916 Rising. On a personal level, it was especially moving to learn how many people sharing my own surname, Byrne, lost their lives during the uprising that really brought the history home and made the experience feel very personal and emotional.
The displays are engaging and thoughtfully laid out, but the highlight for me was the large immersive screen, which illustrates the days of the uprising through a powerful 15-minute film. It was gripping, informative, and very well produced.
I spent around 90 minutes in total and didn’t feel rushed at all it was the perfect amount of time to take everything in. A small but very welcome bonus: the toilets are spotless, which is always appreciated when visiting attractions.
The gift shop is also well stocked, with a great range of items including copies of the Proclamation, busts of the signatories, and other thoughtful souvenirs.
Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable, informative, and well-run museum. I’d highly recommend the GPO Museum to anyone visiting Dublin whether you’re deeply interested in history or just looking to better understand Ireland’s past.
