Waterfront Station的点评
点评：Waterfront station is the railway station in Vancouver for sky train services as well as the commuter services on the West Coast Express to Coquitlam and Mission City. These trains are quite limited and coming from the UK where trains run quite frequently in both directions throughout the day I found it quite jarring that they only run to Vancouver in the morning and back in the evening. I guess this shows the difference in demand and culture?
The Sky Train on the other hand is an intensive service and runs to different parts of Vancouver and surrounding areas. There is the Canada Line which runs to Vancouver Airport and Richmond-Brighouse. There are also connections at Bridgeport for the bus to the ferry terminal so you can go to Vancouver Island. There is also the Expo Line which currently runs to Loughhead and Surrey. There is construction going on at the moment to extend this line to Langley and this should be open in 2028. There are also connections on the Expo Line to reach the Millennium Line for further destinations.
Within the station there is a travel centre so if you need any help with travel enquiries and tickets you can speak to the staff in here. There is also an A&W where you can get something to eat which I did.
The station building is quite grand and harks back to when the city was built and when the railways were still an important part of getting things around.
Many people pass through this station every day but I wonder how many people pause to admire the architecture?
