点评:My wife and I spent a month in the Glenelg area with a fair amount of it downtown on Jetty Road. The city, beach, promenade, etc. is all very nice and has a lively atmosphere. The one thing that mars an otherwise enjoyable experience (such as walking/shopping along Jetty Road or enjoying a meal or drink at one of the many outside seating restaurants) is the loud cars. There are a LOT of classic (some restored to like-new, others souped-up). Many of the car owners, as well as motorcycle riders, like to hear their vehicles' engines and, despite petrol being nearly A$1.80 a litre, will accelerate hard (in 1st gear), rev their engines, or work the gas so their fart-can mufflers make as much noise as they can. I don't know if Glenelg or Holdfast Bay has a noise ordinance; if they do it is not being enforced. If they don't, the Council should consider it. This unnecessary noise makes an otherwise very pleasant area to visit a bit less pleasant.
