点评:As part of a long-planned trip to Italy, we ended it with a trip to the museum after leaving Florence, before departing from Milan. We had been in correspondence with the museum for months prior, concerning my husband's father, who had fought in the German army, and had always said he was captured at the Futa Pass before becoming a POW. The museum researchers identified exactly what unit he fought with from photos of him in uniform and other records. They treated us like VIPs, and drove us to the Giogo Pass, where he actually fought. Andrea and Simona were incredible, giving us so much information, and even showed us the bunkder where my FIL was actually captured in 1944 (this battle is well-documented). Our visit included lunch in Firenzuola, the cemetery at Futa Pass (humbling) and the incredible museum itself (we could have spent a whole day there). They had recommended the Villa Manini, a bed and breakfast right next door, which was delightful - the perfect place to stay at the end of your visit. This is a beautiful hour+ drive north of Florence - don't miss it if you're in the area.
