点评:The Best Way to Experience Zion Is to Get Into the Canyon
Zion National Park was one of the highlights of our family RV trip through the Southwest and ended up giving us some of the most memorable experiences of the entire trip.
We stayed at Watchman Campground, which was an excellent choice. Being inside the park and within walking distance of the visitor center, shuttle system and Springdale made everything incredibly convenient. Once we parked and set up the RV, we really didn’t need to drive it again while exploring Zion.
Our big hike was The Narrows, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. We rented canyon shoes, neoprene socks and walking sticks from Zion Outfitter right outside the park entrance, and the equipment was invaluable. We hiked about 4.4 miles round trip from the Temple of Sinawava shuttle stop, including roughly 2.5 miles actually walking in the Virgin River. Hiking through the water with the enormous canyon walls rising around us was unlike anything else we did on the trip.
The biggest surprise came when we made a last-minute decision to rent e-bikes from Zion Peddler. We needed a tandem bike for our family, and the staff quickly got us set up. It ended up being one of the highlights of our Zion visit. Riding through Zion Canyon at our own pace, surrounded by the massive cliffs and able to stop whenever we wanted, was incredible. After doing it, I honestly think e-bikes are one of the best ways to experience Zion Canyon.
We also enjoyed walking the Pa’rus Trail, which provides another easy and beautiful perspective of the park, especially later in the day.
What stood out most about Zion was how immersive it felt. At the Grand Canyon, much of the experience is looking out across an enormous landscape. At Zion, you’re down inside the landscape—walking through the river, riding beneath towering cliffs and following trails along the Virgin River.
Between staying at Watchman, hiking the Narrows and unexpectedly discovering how much fun it was to explore the canyon by e-bike, Zion gave our family some of our favorite memories of the entire Southwest trip.
