点评：North Beach Tacos is a new addition to Haida Gwaii’s growing and increasingly complex foodie scene, having opened their doors @ the beginning of July. As the name implies, this small takeout-style eatery specializes in tacos and quesadillas. The menu is compact and usually features one or two tacos + one or two quesadillas. Sparkling water and pop is also available. Cash, debit or credit is accepted forms of payment.
Situated as it is along Tow Hill Road, this little eatery is “off the beaten path,” but represents an ideal stop for those heading to (or from) White Creek, Agate Beach or Tow Hill. And while small, North Beach Tacos is hard to miss. The folks who run this establishment certainly understand the importance of advertising. Their social media is active and updated regularly; and for those on the road, there is ample signage indicating the location of this cute lil eatery. Note that parking is somewhat limited.
We decided to have the best of both worlds. I ordered the Steak Taco while my partner got the Quesadilla. We waited just over ten minutes for our bounty and, let me just say, it was definitely worth the wait! I’ll focus exclusively on the taco, since that’s what I had: The Steak Taco featured a hand-made tortilla, marinated steak, chopped onion, cheese, cilantro and salsa. On the whole, I felt the taco was a thing of beauty since it contained all of the elements typically associated with high quality taco goodness: A perfect tortilla, quality protein (steak), fresh veggies, and an appealing, fresh salsa. Taken together as a whole – one delicious bite – it was a symphony of flavours. I’m told the Quesadilla was equally satisfying.

RECOMMENDATION: North Beach Tacos definitely hit well above expectations. The setting is fun, nestled against the trees; the service is friendly and efficient; and, the tacos are some of the best I’ve had in recent memory. If you’re heading towards Tow Hill and want a quick bite, then come here! Highly recommended.
