Sattva - The overrated homestay
The Sattva Nature Retreat的点评
点评：At first we were very impressed with the reviews we read on the hyperbolic website. Our room was a standard double room (perfect for a minimalist) with attached bathroom.
Here are the pros and cons of staying at the Sattva:
PROS:
Location - A serene ambience where you can hear the sound of silence
Meals - wholesome with lip-smacking treats and coffee
Activity - lovely and informative tour of the plantation by the owner
Hosts - gracious
CONS:
Despite knowing in advance of our arrival, the property still messed up as follows:
Unkempt bathroom - the tray for holding our shower products had dead bugs and a cockroach.
Lack of hot water - during our three-night stay, there was no hot water for two days and nights. According to the owners, the hot water heater kept knocking off their main circuit, leading them to activate the generator. The convoluted explanation made us realize that the chances of having a decent shower were slim to none.
Uncontrollable fan - The fan on the wall was ideal during the hot afternoon; however, controlling it was another matter. The owner having tried multiple remotes to control the fan's movement, could not connect and finally gave up.
The strangest thing was that we were the only two people at the retreat, and yet the folks at Sattva could not provide basic amenities except, of course, the scrumptious food.
On a side note, the property is in a beautiful location, particularly if you are interested in seeing the stars at night. Alas, two extremely, extremely bright lights come on at dark, obscuring the sky. What a pity!
Our conclusion - Sattva is rather an overrated homestay and not worth the 60USD per night.
