点评：I stayed for 2 nights, on a B&B basis in room 4. I enjoyed my stay, I quite liked the pleasant ambience of the family-owned pub - and the location close to Coniston's fells and Blawith common was quite good. Price was pretty much what I expected; I had a twin room but paid presumably full price for the room.
Breakfast portions were large and hearty - good when you're walking, fuel is needed for the steep climbs nearby. I particularly enjoyed the very well cooked scrambled eggs - moist (and not overcooked or rubbery as is often the case!).
The room itself was small but clean and functional, no issues (although the small toilet was cramped). But the shower cubicle itself was spacious. See the attached photos.
Staff were all friendly, helpful and hard-working. They definitely tried hard. But on a busy evening, with only two staff members having to serve a steady stream of customers wanting drinks, AND serve all the tables inside and outside in the beer garden - and also several customers ordering takeaway food - the slow service left a lot to be desired. I waited 40 minutes for my fish and chips.
The fish when it eventually came was excellent, fresh crisp batter, beautiful moist chunky cod - top marks (and it was a generous portion size). But sadly my meal was spoiled by awful chips. I don't understand why about a third of my chips were cold and hardly cooked, while another third were small tiny shards - so overcooked that they had the texture of wood! I only ate about a third of them, having to fish out the ones that looked edible. I should perhaps have sent the chips back, but having waited for ages I was hungry - I just wanted to eat.
I paid £160 for my two nights; fish and chips was £19, a pint of cider £6. I'd have given 4 stars if the service (and chips!) had been better. I'd stay there again - but I'd avoid meals that include chips.

最终上桌的鱼非常美味，新鲜酥脆的面糊，鲜嫩多汁的大块鳕鱼——顶级评价（而且份量很足）。但遗憾的是，我的美味被糟糕的薯条破坏了。我不明白为什么大约三分之一的薯条是冷的而且几乎没煮熟，而另外三分之一则是小碎片——煮得太老了，有木头的质感！我只吃了大约三分之一，不得不把看起来还能吃的挑出来。也许我应该把薯条退回去，但是等了这么久我饿了——我只想吃东西。
我住了两晚，花了160英镑；炸鱼薯条19英镑，一品脱苹果酒6英镑。如果服务（和薯条！）更好的话，我会给四星。我会再去那里住——但我会避免点带薯条的餐点。
