点评:The Mount Larcom climb is physically challenging but very rewarding, and is only about 25 minutes drive north of Gladstone. The ascent and descent will test your fitness and your knees but the 10km hike can be completed in about 3 hours, with stops along the way and at the summit for drinking, viewing, photos etc. The sign at the trailhead gate warns that it is 'not a walking track' and this is accurate for much of the path - it is mostly a goat track climb over loose dirt and rocks, more dangerous on the descent with the occasional unexpected 'rollerskate' as the rocks shift underfoot. There is a short rock scramble at the very summit, but it is not difficult. The 360 view from the top is excellent, and whilst you feel you are standing on a peak, there is plenty of space to negate any sense of vertigo. Take a litre or so of water, and a pair of hiking poles help with stability, climbing and 'rollerskate' avoidance coming down.
