Scammed! Don´t hire this tour (not even used bikes!)
Watamu Bikes的点评
点评：We were scammed, these people are lazy and fraudsters.
We hired from our hotel the Forest Walk, as it is described in the website: Biking through the Arabuko Sokoke Forest. However, once in the Watamu Bikes office they told us that it was very difficult to do it by bike and it was better by car. We don´t understood why a bike company refuses to ride bikes, but stupid foreigner tourists as we were, we accepted.
To our surprise, the car didn´t enter the forest (probably it is not even allowed), so we were driving through a completely uninteresting path to the place were elephants go for water. That´s not the guide´s fault, but we were even so unlucky that we didn´t spot elephants, although they appear almost daily.
One of the main reasons we went to Watamu was the Arabuko Sokoke Forest. We lost not only money, but precious time (we could have done something more interesting elsewhere) and the illusion to enter into the forest.
I guess part of the excursion price was meant to pay the entry to the forest, so they just decided to keep this for themselves.
This kind of behavior is only worthwhile in the very short run (100 USD for doing nothing... but even the guides lost some hours of their time!), but it won´t lead this business very far. It´s not only this review and the comments we are giving to all our friends, but our hotel said they will never work again with Watamu Bikes. This also creates bad reputation to Watamu and Kenya, I didn´t expected that I needed to be so cautious when hiring excursions in such a touristic place.
