点评:I’ve learnt over the years that there’s always room to be better but I’m not sure that applies here.
Our visit was part of our Distant Journeys Southern India experience and we were so pleased that it was.
We were greeted with a wonderful welcome by the delightful Shyama who welcomed us with open arms into her home. We drank a homemade Tamarind cooler and then the show began. So many dishes made on a 4 burner gas hob with such care, love and expertise. Spices added with such abandon from unlabelled pots in two large drawers. It was like watching a concert pianist stroke keys by touch. Constant checking taste and flavour - it was a pleasure to experience.
All of course culminated in a feast to eat. Truly if we hadn’t eaten for 3 days we could never eaten all that had been prepared. Shyama is a skilled cook, no doubt whatsoever and if you ever get the chance to spend a few hours with Shyama and you’re a “foodie” then this is an opportunity NOT to be missed. Shyama it was lovely to meet you and from us all - Thank you x
