点评:It was an amazing day. We were so lucky that the weather was sunny and warm, having had a number of rainy days. This was probably one of the highlights of our month in Umbria. As others have written, the family owning this farm is warm and welcoming. We had a drive pick us up in Spello -- I'm glad we didn't drive the road UP, UP, UP to Pettino! You got a good sense of Umbria and the countryside. We were greeted with an espresso. After meeting the family -- Mac, Francesca, Luca -- we loaded into 4WD vehicles up higher with Luca and his truffle hunting dogs. The experience, the views, the hike were outstanding. We felt like we were truly experiencing what Umbria is all about. After gathering some truffles we were driven to the field where the sheep are herded, where we met Mac's cousin, Daniel (both are from New Zealand). Luca opened the tailgate and proceeded to cook us eggs with shaved truffels -- not to mention the Proseco! Back to the farm where we enjoyed their cured meats, wine and olive oil, while Francesca demonstrated her pasta making skills. We were treated to a fantastic lunch of the pasta (w/ truffles of course), grillled artichokes served with lamb and pork AND wine of course. It was a spectacular day....one that we will not ever forget!
