点评:This trip we seem to keep getting seated by the door at almost all the restaurants we visited. I finally told the family it must be because we are so attractive that we make a good first impression!!!
Herbsaint is an inviting space, warm and not uncomfortably formal.
We ordered a bit of everything. Gumbo, fried oysters, baked Asiago for starters. All were very good. Mains were duck and two different types of steaks. The duck orderers deemed it some of the best they have had. The steaks were … okay.
The one hiccup we had, kind of major, is we ordered a bottle of wine during apps. Glasses were brought immediately. Apps were cleared, and entrees came quickly. We tried to eat very very slowly, hoping wine would show up. We all were about 1/2 to 3/4 finished when it came. Different server was trying to open bottle, she broke the top off the cork, struggled, and finally went back to the bar to get someone to help her. We held ourselves back, stifling the urge to assist, as we used to own a wine shop and have expertise in wrangling recalcitrant corks. It dampened the experience as we really like to enjoy a good wine with our meal.
We all had desserts that were fine, not outstanding.
It was a good dining experience, not exceptional, but solid.
