Our party of six with a 1:30 pm brunch reservation had a cramped table with narrow, metal stools that had no backs or cushions. The restaurant was fairly busy when we entered. A sign on the door advised that they were short staffed.
The waitress was reasonably quick taking our drink and appetizer order, whick locked us in. No signs of anything out of the ordinary. While waiting she eventually came back and, with some prompting, took our food order also so that the kitchen could get started on it while the drinks and appetizers were out, or so she claimed.
She came back later and told us they were out of the wine used in the mimosa flights, so we would need to purchase the entire bottle. Extra charge, but we got the juice for free at least. Only "freebie" we would get out of this ordeal.
It took considerably longer for the mimosas to arrive. We had probably been waiting about 45min to an hour by this point.
Our appetizer, the biscuit board, would be another 30-45min after that. It was a single biscuit cut up with a few meager toppings. Hardly what was advertised. And hardly worth the hour and a half wait.
The waitress had been largely inattentive but sensed by now we were growing impatient. She claimed the reason for the delay was the kitchen needed to make a fresh batch of biscuits because they ran out.
It would be another 45 min for our actual food to arrive. By now it was around 3:30 pm and the restaurant was closing down. The waitress sensed we were getting pissed off and explained there had been a large party in the back room just before us. Why it took two hours to explain this is a mystery.
The food was adequate, nothimg special. Thd bacon tasted like it was microwaved.
The manager came by at one point and offered the same explanation as the waitress about the party in the back but offered no make good for the ludicrous wait time.
When the bill came, they had the audacity to automatically charge a 20% gratuity on the check.
The "manager" was a young woman with tattoos and piercings who clearly was out of her league and was the root of the entire problem. Short staffed or not, there appeared to be no managing involved. At one point when the restaurant was slammed, one of the staff was squeegeeing the windows. Who knows what the kitchen was up to.
Fortunately for them, I was not the one footing the bill or they would not have been paid.
