点评:I was one of the very first customers when Spanky's opened over 40 years ago and have been a regular customer of theirs until now. Upon our latest visit the restaurant, it was just about EMPTY of customers (first clue) and I thought we just lucked out (as it's always packed with customers). Our waitress was friendly and efficient; wish I could say something good about the food and drink. We ordered our staple foods, (same food I've had since I was a teenager and over the decades) we ordered Spanky's Chicken finger platter with Onion rings, draft beer and I got a Blackberry Margarita. The Margarita was awful, tasted like it came out of a can they found at the bottom of Tybee Beach with a horrid 'canned' metalic after taste (it tasted nothing like blackberries, although a 'fresh' blackberry can be seen in the glass. The most disappointing of all were the chicken fingers and onion rings. The onion rings are now just like all of the other typical restaurant frozen onion rings AND the worst part were the chicken fingers. The actual reason why everyone goes there. The chicken Finger platter prices have gone up and the size of them down as is in 1/3 of what they've always been for deacdes (the size of the fingers at Spank's South Side now are the size of the fingers on River Street Spanky's which is very sad because all of the locals know that Spanky's Southside was the place to go for the large chicken fingers, but now they are about the same SMALL size fingers that you find on River Street and Tybee locations) and yet the price went WAY up for smaller fingers at the Southside location. Our chicken fingers were also NOT fresh, they had that over cooked RUBBER batter tale tell sign of sitting under a heat lamp too long (Spanky's WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU??) The salad was disappointing as well.. not as green (mostly white pieces of salad) no more good looking ripe red Tomato wedges, now it's cherry tomatoes (nothing special). Overall, we would have loved to send everything back and be on our way, but we decided to let our money do it's talking in the future/ no more Spanky's for us....after 40+ years of great consistency with a superior product, they've gone and messed with it and totally ruined it for us! I was born and raised in Savannah Georgia. I will no longer be telling visitors I see down around River Street to go to Spanky's Southside....and by the looks of the restaurant when we were there (just about empty) it appears the locals are all getting wind of the 'changes' at Spanky's.....sad that the Spanky's era appears to come to an end. From this point on, we will be finding new restaurants in Savannah. It pains me to have to write this review. It pained 'us' to have to pay the bill.
