点评：Valentine's Day 2022, we Three Couples attended a Wine / Food Pairing Dinner at the Aqua Star in the Weston on Hutchinson Island. We had so much fun, we decided to repeat the experience this year. Sadly, our experience this year wasn't even close to being enjoyable.
To effectively experience Wine / Food Paring, the wine and the food must be served together. During our three (3) Course Meal, the wine was only served while the food was being served once. In each of the other courses, we had already finished our portion of the meal when the wine was served. And it was not that the restaurant was over crowded or had a shortage of staff. They were merely incompetent, unaware, and suffering from very low situational awareness.
It was not until the final course that the wine was actually served with the meal. The Sommelier would present a little note card to the table describing the name of the wine, but the wine bottle was never shown. Additionally, we had bread plates with butter knives, but bread was only served with we asked for it. While inquiring about the lack of bread with a staff member, we were told that the Manager didn't want to serve bread because he didn't want the guests to be overwhelmed. Not to worry because we were completely underwhelmed throughout the whole evening experience.
With a price of $150 PER PERSON, excluding tip and tax, this was by far the most mediocre meal we'd ever been served in Savannah.
I would expect a restaurant associated with the Weston to be far better.
The Piano Player was exceptional. But that's not why we were there...
For this price, we plan to dine at somewhere much more appealing next Valentine's Day.
