点评:We tried Namaste because the new "Plan" function on this app recommended it as a "Hidden Gem." The positive reviews raved about the delicious food, great ambiance and incredible service. The (few) negative reviews savaged it for awful, cold food and non-existant service. We didn't share either type of experience.
We arrived at about 6 PM on a Monday night, and the place was (not unexpectedly) almost empty. The server was pleasant, and she answered my question about the difference between Nepalese and Indian Curry. Beyond that, there wasn't much engagement. The service was pleasant and competent (mostly), but it certainly wasn't the high involvement that some of the reviews described.
We ordered the traditional Nepalese Curry with salmon and the Eggplant Masala, with Naan and Biryani Rice. I wish the server had told us that both dishes come with steamed rice.
The portions were reasonable, although the eggplant dish was more sauce than veggie. The Nepalese Curry, which we ordered medium, was tasty, but very mild. I'd recommend ordering one degree spicier for Nepalese dishes than Indian ones. The eggplant had more of a kick, but it was still on the milder edge of medium.
The Naan was the biggest disappointment. We both adore Naan, but this one was undercooked and gummy, without those beloved crispy, brown edges.
The rice was very nicely cooked and served in more than ample proportions. it wasn't until we were finished eating that the server brought us the forgotten biryani, far too late to be eaten. She took it back graciously, however, and did not charge us.
My husband also ordered one of the signature cocktails, the Cucumber Cooler. It was the highlight of the meal - tasty, refreshing, and not at all sweet, which was just what we wanted.
It was hard to judge the ambiance because it was just days before March 17, and the whole place was decked out in bright green posters and Guiness ads
