点评:Wow. This is the real deal - as tasty as what you can find in SF packaged with green environmental sensibilities. And many locals support this restaurant so not just a tourist trap.
The menu is simple with 8 dishes (like most Street food in SE Asia) with gluten-free and vegan options). The star dishes are the 2 Vietnamese pho options (#1 rare beef and #2 brisket). But don’t overlook the Thai option #3 (the owner was born in Thailand) which was came out in a red broth but too aggressively spiced. We did not try the other options 4-8 but imagine it is just as tasty. We splurged and paid the extra $2 for the large bowls and ended up with leftovers to bring back to our condo.
We went for an 5:30 dinner on Sat. The place was busy - but we were seated immediately. While it is a “one wok kitchen”, it seems like they throttle their seating so we would not get seated if the kitchen was overwhelmed with takeout orders - so we appreciate that.
Service was very efficient and warm. And there is seating in two rooms and also space at the bar. Their drink menu was an interesting mix. They had sake without any Japanese dishes on the menu, Horchata Boba and Mexican drinks like Topo Chico, Mexican Coke and Tamarindo that I’m guessing caters to the local community that helped the restaurant survive the Pandemic (the word Chicharron shows up on the menu).
Soup Noodles - perfect for apres-ski chilly evenings…
Pro tip: Don’t automatically reach for the Sriracha bottle… the house made chili sauce and the Thai flakes are the bomb!! And the leftover brisket from #2 (with bread from Grocery Outlet/Vons) makes a good sandwich for day 2.
If you are really in a traditional pho with tripe and tendons, this place is not for you as it does not offer that option. But it does not the basil/jalapeño/sprouts/lime combo on request
