Lovely, little populated area
Compass Harbor Trail的点评
点评：This was the perfect trail for us. It was a rainy on and off day. We had wanted to do the Bar Island Trail, but parking was a mess. On a hunt to find something else to do while we were waiting for a ticketed activity, my husband stumbled upon this trail. The parking lot is unmarked and small. You can find information about the trail and the history of the site on the National Park's Old Farm Virtual Tour page.
It is a very short hike to the shore through the ruins of the George Dorr farm . During low tide, one half of the shore is similar to Little Hunters Beach in Acadia and the other side is a miniature Sand Beach. I couldn't believe how few people were there despite the loveliness. There were tide pools and rocks to climb and beautiful views. We would have explored more, but there were a few rumbles overhead and we headed back in case a storm was going to ensue.
