点评：It was opening day at Ewa Beach's newest attraction - The LineUp at Wai Kai and the restaurant which just happens to overlook the surfing action - The LookOut. It goes without saying finding a table was tough on an opening day, so the Yobo and I sat at the bar where Matilyn promptly stepped up and greeted us while giving us a couple of menus to review. I ordered a Kona Black Sand Porter and the Sicilian Pizza while my Yobo ordered a Diet Coke and Garlic Kauai Prawns - good so far. The LookOut is designed so that most of the seating can see the surfing action below, even along the front side of the bar we could watch folks test their skills.
After a bit, I started looking at my watch wondering what happen to our order. In the meantime, a number of servers stop by and ask if we ordered this or that. I then started to watch the staff as the food was coming out. It seemed like the servers weren't sure where the orders went. Additionally, I notice tables were not being cleaned in a timely manner. This time is lost in the restaurant industry, you need to get your customers seated, fed, and out within a certain time frame to remain profitable especially here in Hawaii. But hey it is opening day and you are going to experience some misfires.
Ok, back to me our food finally came out and overall it was very good. The Sicilian Pizza was very tasty with a crunchy crust (just the way I like my pizza) and at $21 a good deal. Now, to me, they took liberal use of the word Prawns. When I think of a Prawn I see an extra large shrimp, yes I understand they are different, but to me, they are a very large shrimp. While tasty, the Garlic Kauai Prawns were closer to Garlic Kauai Shrimp (in size). I believe there were six on a plate and at $22 it is pricy. The market will determine if they stick around.
Overall I would say a very, very good experience. We enjoy ourselves, the facilities are excellent, the food was very tasty, and the staff was helpful, again big shout out to Matilyn, no matter where we went. We are looking forward to going back very soon. So please head out to the LineUp and enjoy the LookOut at Wai Kai.
