点评：Went for the Thursday meatball special that’s regularly advertised on a local television station. As stated on Houghton’s menu, the specials are served from 11 am to 4 pm. However, when we arrived at around 1:30 pm, we were immediately informed by the waitperson that they had run out of mashed potatoes. We were told we could have fries if we were ordering meatballs. Who orders fries rather than mashed potatoes and gravy with meatballs! We opted for one of their sandwich choices which turned out to be subpar. At around 2pm, we heard the same waitperson inform a pair of incoming guests that they were now out of meatballs. If you advertise a daily special will be served between 11 am and 4 pm you must plan to have an adequate supply of said special available within at least that timeframe. And what respectable western Wisconsin restaurant runs out of potatoes… that can be prepared as mashed, baked or fried! The only positive we experienced was the excellent service provided by the lone waitperson during this moderately busy time of day. It’s doubtful we’ll return to Houghton’s anytime soon if at all.
