点评:Pleasant enough surroundings and a good welcome. We were sat in a relatively secluded area near the bar and the music was too loud to hear ourselves speak. Asked the waiter to turn it down and she did - better. But about 30 minutes later the somewhat stand-offish guy in charge (?) turned it up again. Had to ask every time we wanted more (tap) water. Why couldn't a bottle be left on the table? A large menu which doesn't look as though it changes very often - a blackboard of chef's specials would be imaginative. Had a good refreshing starter with salmon gravadlax. Two others had the "mushroom risotto" and what a travesty. Trading Standards should investigate this. A mix of basmati & wild rice - certainly not Arborio rice - piled up, topped with grated Parmesan and mushrooms scattered over at the last moment. (Some of the mushrooms should be stirred into the rice during cooking). Two of us had seabream for the main - a bit too salty for one but mine was good and a generous portion. A portion of Dauphinoise and of Lyonnaise potatoes between 4 was not enough. Two others had duck leg with an excessive quantity of red cabbage. Dessert - a very expensive (£11) and tasteless apple tarte tatin with an equally disappointing Crème Normandy. Two of us had an average Calvados with this, for which, on looking at the bill a few days later we don't seem to have been charged (2x£8.50).
It was about 9:30pm when we finished but we weren't the last diners, however the waiter brought all our coats without us asking. How rude.
Overall it was OK but for a long established restaurant it should be better.
