点评：I’ve visited here a number of times over the years and it’s always been a little hit and miss. The full English breakfast is lovely albeit expensive. Can easily spend £60 on breakfast and drinks for a family of 4. Pretty steep when you consider it’s a village cafe.
Came in last week and ordered the dinky soup of the day and beef sandwich. It wasn’t just dinky, it was miniscule- slightly bigger than the size of a small ramekin, with the sandwich being an incredibly small round bap about 3 inches in diameter, I did order chips to go with it, however I had to remind the waitress and these didn’t arrive until I’d almost finished, although she was very apologetic. The standard of the food was very disappointing on this occasion- the soup nothing more than a bit of pasata with some spice in it (it had that incredibly strong tomato puree taste and as such it as unpalatable). My companion ordered the roast sandwich of the day with chips and a dipping gravy. The meat was literally 2 pieces of very thinly sliced, chewy beef, offered in a bread bap. To say we were disappointed was an understatement.
I very much agree with the comments about the older female member of staff (grey hair/glasses) and her attitude. She is incredibly rude each time we visit and unfortunately this coupled with the disappointing food for the price has made it likely we’ll no longer return.
In comparison, we visited a high end eatery in York city centre the next day for and spent just £1 more on lunch than we did at the urban food hall for considerably better food.
