点评:‘Muy bueno’ (‘Very good’ in Spanish). These were the first words we heard after our airport transfer coach driver asked where we were going to. I had to confirm what those words meant as I don’t speak Spanish but after I did that encouraged me to think we were onto something good as I had taken a long time to choose this hotel after looking at many others and extensively reading their Trip Advisor reviews. The coach was full and stopped at two hotels before ours at which point we were the only two left onboard! We thought that was probably also another very good sign…(On reflection it could also have been a very bad sign! But it wasn’t thankfully.)
The coach trip from the airport took around 2.5 hours so not quick but the hotel is located on the far South-East side of the Island whereas the airport is to the very West so not nearby.
Overview:
The hotel is situated away from the main town up a slight hill (perfectly walkable though) perched near the edge of a small cliff which if you have a sea facing or part sea-facing room gives SPECTACULAR views, however if you have a room facing away from the sea then your view is much less spectacular over a residential area which is by its nature is dull and quite uninspiring, so tip 1 is either choose a sea-facing room or a side room with a partial sea-view. The full sea-facing rooms cost more naturally. The rooms themselves were decent although the Air Conditioning in ours did not seem over-effective. It could also have done with a few more power points. There was a mini fridge and a balcony to sit out on. The wall mounted TV had sufficient UK channels to watch for us if we wished. There was an in-room safe that could be rented by the week. We found the double bed comfortable enough. What we did miss was that there was no iron or ironing board and no kettle or tea/coffee making facilities in the room, although we did ask and were given a kettle which was of help to make a coffee before breakfast. We would have thought these ‘missing’ items should be standard these days to be honest.
From a rough count the hotel has a round 125 rooms over 5 floors which makes this a quite small but thus a nicely sized hotel. The gym is situated on floor 6 (the roof) with glass walls and with truly SPECTACULAR views around the hotel. Not sure if it has air conditioning though which may be an issue. (Apologies to JS Hotels if it does). The Hotel is Adults only which is great if that is what you want and is which is what we did. Obviously the higher up your room the better the views. The hotel has no dedicated no car park as far as I am aware for those who may have a hire car, but you will probably be able to park on the roads outside and near the hotel.
As others have mentioned it’s a bit dated design-wise, but it is very well decorated and maintained. The size of our room was sufficient but a little larger would not have gone amiss. We paid and upgraded to a sea-facing room from a side sea-facing view at a quite reasonable cost. The full sea-view rooms are recommended for sure!
The hotel has 2 main swimming pools and a smaller one as well and 2 x tennis courts. These are set in the gardens which to be honest could have looked a bit better than they did and that would have made them nicer to walk though and look at.
Outside at the rear of the hotel is the large patio area that houses numerous chairs, tables, and sun beds. This area gives you free access to the extensive cliff edge (don’t fall in!) to see the spectacular sounds and sights of the sea crashing against the cliffs.
The food was reasonable and of a decent selection. We went All Inclusive which gave us Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner with snacks available in the afternoon. As with other Ai hotels you had to pay for Premium brands which to us bizarrely include coffee from a proper Starbucks/Costa Barista style coffee machine, otherwise you can have the default coffee.
Inland away from the hotel the area is what I would describe is a little run-down with many shops/restaurants closed but some (not all) will have been shut due to the time we visited which was late April-early May 2025 and so the summer season had yet to arrive. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the attractive harbour area which has restaurants and shops to explore as well as see the multitude of yachts and boats in the harbour. The area was not very busy which was nice but of course it will be during more peak times.
It is about a 15-minute walk from the hotel to the nearest sandy cove which has deckchairs for rent.
So, let’s get to what we thought were the more negative points out of the way before we go to the more positive ones…
Less good points:
- Poor view if you have an inland-looking room.
- No ironing board, iron, or kettle in the room (but you can ask for a kettle)
- The normal included Coffee is OK, but the Premium Coffee is better, but you must pay for it. Be nice if it was included in the Ai – the cost would be minimal to the hotel I would have thought.
- The Lift was unreliable during our stay there, but it was attended too and fixed.
- The gardens would benefit for some TLC.
- Lots of closed shops and Restaurants in the very local area but we were there early in the season
- There was a lack of evening entertainment. Whist we were (7 nights) there were on two evenings of entertainment and so after dinner there was not a pile of things to do, however there may be more during peak season.
- Was looking to rebook to go back in 2026 but they only accept bookings around a maximum of 6 months in advance, so we are unable to book direct for May 2026. That seems a poor decision from JS Hotels to me, but they run hotels, and I do not.
Good points:
- All the staff were very helpful and friendly with the room service staff always saying “hello” and a special call-out for Miguel in Reception who went above and beyond to be helpful and accommodating.
- The hotel felt “Exclusive” due to its location, décor, number of rooms and attentive staff.
- Very high decoration and maintenance standards.
- We had an email part through our holiday asking for feedback which we gave and received a reply to.
- SPECTACULAR sea views.
- A small selection of board and other types of games available in the reception area that you can freely take and return.
- SPECTACULAR Gym location
Summary:
A very positive holiday in Majorca at a very decent (even though only rated 3 star) hotel, with the highlights being the spectacular location, the hotels small size and exclusive feel that has outstanding, helpful, friendly staff. Highly recommend and would love to return. Thank you JS Hotels Cape Colom!
JS Hotels Cape Colom!
