Jubal a Early Homeplace的点评
点评：This was such a disappointing place to go. Prior to our visit, I checked online and several places stated that it's open for tours on Sundays from 1-5. However, when you call any of the phone numbers listed, it just rings and rings with no answer. There's an email listed, but it's invalid and bounces back.
We decided to visit here today to check it out. There's a big sign on the main road stating it's open from 1-5 on Sundays. We arrived to the homeplace to find it locked up. Finally a lady came up the road and parked and said she was just here visiting friends, she'd have them come out. A guy came out and said he was just the caretaker and there to maintain the grass. However, the grass looked like it hadn't been mowed in 2-3 months. There was a stroller just sitting outside, and several cars for the people who lived there. He said we couldn't come in, and he didn't know if/when there would ever be tours available despite the large sign at the end of the road.
While this is a beautiful home on the outside and a piece of history to see, it's not managed well, if at all. This is going to be a piece of history lost because of mismanagement and poor daily operations. That's sad to see. I will be contacting the Commonwealth of Virginia to have this removed from their website. This is simply a young couples home now, that doesn't want the public there or to see it.
Even the handicapped parking spots were blocked off with their personal vehicles. So sad to see this place going downhill. I would love for an actual legit, responsible trust management group take over this historic house and make it available to the public again. Until then, I would just honor the new homeowners wishes and stay away.
