点评:The food at Hamro Kitchen is unquestionably fantastic. Perhaps some of the best in the New River Valley, definitely the best Himalayan (or Indian/Pakistani) food in the area.
But the service is criminally bad. We have been going to Hamros since they opened, and the first few months, it was easy to dismiss the slow service and chronic under-staffing as growing pains - they were still finding their way, figuring out how to be a successful business - and it had an endearing "start up" quality, which, along with amazing food, made it worth putting up with slow (though friendly) service.
But now, it's a lot harder to continue to overlook absolutely atrocious service. We arrived at 8 pm on a Friday night, watched the counter guy actually answer the phone by hanging it up, and waited for 10 minutes to be acknowledged in any way. When we were finally acknowledged the hangup guy said it would be 45 minutes to be seated, so we debated our options, but someone else came out and seated us promptly (still 15 minutes after we had walked in). Then we watched various servers walk around our table for the next 10 minutes. Someone brought water, but did not take drink or food orders. 10 minutes later, the guy arrived to take our order.
If you're keeping track, it's now been over 30 minutes since we walked in.
10 minutes later, our drinks arrived (45 minutes). Food began to arrive shortly thereafter, though only four of the six orders. When the guy came to check on how the food was (another 10 minutes), we pointed out that 2 of us still didn't have dinner. The server presumably went to check, though he did not tell us that was what he was doing. The other two meals eventually arrived.
The food was *fantastic*. But the staff made us feel like we were a burden and a hassle, the service was non-existent, and the whole experience felt like a chore, not a pleasant meal among friends.
Maybe they'll get their act together, but until they do, I wouldn't recommend Hamro's as a destination, no matter how good the food is.
