The mashed potato sides shaped like little mountains are incredible delicious but would be enhanced by more heat before serving. The wine list has a good selection of both French, domestic, and world wines at remarkably reasonable prices. We enjoyed a 2011 Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Burgundy that was priced 30% below retail. The souffles (chocolate, passion fruit, vanilla) ordered at the beginning of the meal arrive piping hot and steaming from the oven, the vanilla cream poured into the souffles cool them down to a heavenly breath of egg and flavor so light and delicious, Given the restaurant food desert that characterizes the northeast Houston area Chez Nous is a breath of fresh air that has stayed that way for the past 40 years even as everything that was there before disappears.
