点评:I returned after my awesome dining experience last time during the busiest time of year, so a real testament to the cafe and restaurant on how they can cope under pressure.
I returned with a friend, and she was extremely impressed by the decor upstairs and the history of the building .
We both had lasagne , this is not like low end , supermarket rubbish some on here might only be used to eating. This was lovingly made, full of quality ingredients, and superbly presented. The ratio of pasta, meat, bechamel, and cheese had me salivating just reminiscing about it.
Food was accompanied by a superb red wine, and the creme brulee was divine.
The female member of staff was friendly , well presented, and knowledgeable. It makes all the difference between a couple of minutes' wait and a few extra minutes to receive the food when the staff member is friendly and doesn't need to be reminded of what drinks are needed.
So that was upstairs . Absolutely awesome. It was well worth the effort of booking early to get a table and appreciate the splendour of the building.
For breakfast ( downstairs), it's great to have fried sausages and black pudding with mushrooms and choicest quality bacon, the eggs were cooked perfectly . The full Welsh was washed down with copious amounts of tea .
I can fully understand why poached eggs were not on the menu as it was busier than a busy thing on a busy day. You could not move outside or inside with people milling around for the festival and queuing out the door for the best breakfast in Dolgellau.
It shames other places on the care and attention to detail . Having fried sausages , grilled bacon etc is becoming rarer as other places put speed , cost and and profit over quality.
Thank you to the owner who was smiling through the pressure of trying to accommodate everyone , even speaking Welsh to locals and English to visitors.
