点评:Although trains still operate on this line from the platform just behind, the station building has been “repurposed“ as a restaurant. There is a car park at the site but getting a space may depend on the number of commuters using it. We were unfamiliar with the village so just parked off the Main Street nearby and followed the signs for a short walk to the station.
The interior has been refurbished in recent years and a splash of colour and a small bar area replace what may have been an austere waiting room or similar at some stage. The seating is split between booths down one side and open tables down the other. Overall the owners have made the best to create a Mediterranean atmosphere in a railway station!
The menu had a small selection of mains dishes however we were attracted in the first place to the tapas offering and that is what we ordered. It’s always a bit difficult to gauge portion sizes and with advice from our server we initially requested three dishes. It also gave us a chance to test our appetite and the quality of the food. It transpires that the food was very good and the waiter was perfectly happy to add another couple of options as matters progressed which also helped keep everything hot on the plates. In the end we had Patatas Bravas (£7), Spanish Chipolatas (£9), Paprika Prawn Skewers (£8), Chicken Tempura (£7), Crispy Honey Chilli Beef (£8) and Prawn Tempura (£7). There was not a bad dish amongst them.
For drinks we had a small (125ml) and a large (250ml) glass of Tempanillo Alceo wine, which was very pleasant, to accompany the food and added £5.00 and £9.50 respectively to the bill which totalled just over £60 reflecting very good value. Service was very pleasant and friendly throughout and the flow of the food nicely timed.
We could easily recommend a visit to others and if we were back in the area we wouldn’t hesitate to go again.
